Three bands, three curiously cool names
The RoyalClover over at vox was kind enough to share with me some awesome music links from her wealth of indie music knowledge from Canada, so I decided to share a few groups that I also find really fascinating to listen to. I love listening to all kinds of music, ranging from acid jazz, electronica, and garage band indie music, and I hope you enjoy these three small selections!
First up is an artist from Athens Greece called Naono that uses natural everyday sounds in his creative spin on ambient electronic music. He's done work in documentaries and short films, creating and producing artistic takes on polysymphonic soundscapes that create an addictive experience.
I first heard about him through the podcast indiefeed, and subsequently he popped up in other NPR related shows as soundbites between newstories. I totally dig his stylistic sense, and inspirational approach to creating solid music. A definite must listen for any fan of great music!
Next up is a band from Japan who's been in the scene for over 9 years. Antennasia is a two-person group that combines electronica in a funky, trip-hop / slowbeat eclectic electronica style that's soothing to the ears, and a great beat to mellow out to.
Have a listen to their most recent release called Passion Show on the J-wave radio show, Radio Sakamoto. You can also browse on over to their myspace page and sample some more fascinating tracks. This is one group you definitely cannot miss!
Last but not least comes a fashion design / electronica pop music duo called Coltemonikha. This group has to be one of the most unique sounding groups I'd ever heard because they even have their own fashion store over at Colkinikha! Their music is themed in tune with their fashion designs in a delicious compilation that can be syrupy sweet, or dark and engaging.
But no music is complete without a small sample, so here's one from my own personal library! Enjoy!
